Stemming from Covid-19 and passing laws that went into effect January 1, 2021 now most documents can be notarized virtually. Colorado notaries can now remotely notarize documents for people anywhere in or outside of the United States.
A couple points to note for remote notarizations:
Video calls will be saved for 10 years
Electoral documents are excluded
Identities will be verified through a state or government ID (I request an electronic copy in additon to viewing it on the video call)
Wills have some stipulations
Videocalls happen to verify identity. The documents are notarized.
Original documents are sent to the Notary Public. The document is reviewed to assure it is the same as what was notarized on the videocall.
The will is sent back to the recipient.
How it works: give us a call, text or email. We'll email you an invite to your notary session. You upload your document, pay the invoice, your identity will be verified electronically, then I'll jump on the call to make sure everything is filled out and notarize it for you and you will have the notarized document.
Full details provide by the state of Colorado regarding the requirements for remote notarizations can be found here.
